06 Feb Volunteer Appreciation Event
What a fun event! The North County Board of Directors hosted the annual volunteer appreciation event which was held at Eileen Lett’s beautiful home in Carlsbad. A lovely meal was catered from The Village Kabob Mediterranean Grill and celebratory cakes were created by Tori Mooney for dessert. The board also recognized our President Carla Going’s birthday with flowers and a spa treatment. Carla presented a picture slide show that highlighted our Year in Review and our goals for 2025. Our two founders Deb Snyder and Deborah Pomeranz were remembered, along with a summary from our early beginnings to where we have come in the past 14 years. Each of the board members, the 2024 volunteers and the trainers were individually acknowledged and gifted with purple embroidered jackets for their time, and talents throughout the year.
We enrolled 35 new members in 2024, most of which joined in the 1st quarter of the year and the majority were from Carlsbad, Encinitas and Vista. Most were referred by a friend or fellow survivor, or a physician office staff member. Over 50% had breast cancer and 82% had exercised prior to finding us.
Our 2025 goals are to engage those who have joined us to attend class regularly, enroll 4 new participants each month, hire two new cancer certified exercise specialists, and to expand our classes further into north county, specifically the Carlsbad area.
