North County Cancer Fitness was started in 2010 when our Founder Deb Snyder, from Oceanside, Ca. was diagnosed with breast cancer and realized after her treatment, there was no “rehab program” so to speak, for cancer survivors. Deb was an athlete and had been active all her life, but knew she was dealing with a “new normal” and needed to find her way back with a slow, steady, safe, and strong commitment to rebuilding her fitness level. When she realized there was no “cancer rehabilitation” through her health system, she decided to start her own 501(3)(c) non profit, that would be named North County Cancer Fitness.

Since then, many local women (and men) have joined the donation-based organization and participate in several of the weekly classes now available, including strength and balance training, cardio, yoga, Pilates, walking and beginners Zumba. Our trainers are cancer certified and will meet you where you’re at, whether newly diagnosed, on active treatment, in remission, or presumed cured. There are no dues or fees to join and no requirement to attend class. Once you compete the brief online form, you will receive our monthly newsletter, which will have the class schedule and an update of any fun social gatherings we have had or are planning. You are welcome to join us for any class or event regardless of your level of involvement. We want to support and get to know you!

North County Cancer Fitness is a unique place, where those dealing with cancer receive the benefits of peer support while engaging in physical activity known to improve symptoms of both the cancer and its treatment. We understand a cancer diagnosis and all that entails can
profoundly diminish a person’s physical condition and quality of life. The good news is exercise has been shown to improve physical function, fatigue, anxiety, depression, mood, self-esteem, both during and after cancer treatments. Many of us came for the exercise, and we stayed for the friendship and camaraderie we found at NCCF. Join us
