WHO are we?
NCCF is a non-profit organization promoting strength and wellness for survivors who are newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, in recovery or living with cancer. NCCF is staffed entirely by volunteers and is partnered with highly trained professionals holding degrees, certifications and experience working within the field of oncology.
WHAT do we do?
NCCF develops and provides individualized cancer fitness programs that incorporate physical therapy, group exercise classes, gym passes/membership, personal training, nutritional guidance, mentorship and referrals/access to community resources.
WHERE do these programs take place?
NCCF knows cancer is not one size fits all and neither is cancer fitness. The North County San Diego area offers a variety of small gyms, fitness studios and large training facilities. Whether you are interested in yoga, swimming, pilates, weight training, zumba, aquatic classes, personal training or simply walking a track – we’ve got a place for you. Examples: Fitness Evolution; YogaVista; The Wellness Center; re:form Yoga; 24 Hour Fitness; Yoga 6; YMCA; White Peacock Yoga; LA Fitness.
WHEN do these programs take place?
NCCF creates a personalized fitness plan for each survivor entering our program. The when varies according to our Free Fitness Class Schedule and each survivor’s individual needs, wants, goals and availability.
WHY do we do this?
NCCF members have been affected by cancer in one way or another, either personally, through family members or friends. NCCF knows the toll that cancer takes on our bodies. We also know that studies show exercise is key to recovery. Exercise increases the body’s ability to heal, encourages healthier lifestyle and reduces the risk of recurrence. There are so many things in the cancer experience that we can’t control but at NCCF we concentrate on the things we can – such as fitness, nutrition, knowledge and attitude.
HOW much does the program cost?
NCCF services are available at no cost to those coping with cancer.
NCCF is a non-profit organization dependent on the generosity and giving of others. We ask the following:
- If NCCF services provided require payment and you are financially able to pay for these services we ask that you do so in order that others who are not financially able may benefit from our program.
- If your insurance covers physical therapy and accepts our provider NCCF asks that you use your insurance for physical therapy services.
- DONATE to NCCF if you are financially able so we may continue these services so beneficial to cancer survivors.
